Overview
Korea Chemical Bank (KCB) was established in 2000 within the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology to build a national infrastructure for collecting, managing, and sharing drug discovery compound resources.
KCB supports drug discovery, chemical biology, and life science research by providing researchers with access to curated chemical compound resources, bioactivity information, and related data services.
Mission
KCB aims to collect, manage, and distribute drug discovery compounds and related information at the national level.
- Collect and manage drug discovery compounds and related information
- Support shared use of compound resources for research
- Provide infrastructure for drug discovery and bio-research
- Promote collaboration among academia, industry, and research institutes
Role and Responsibilities

Compound Resource Infrastructure
KCB builds and operates core infrastructure for drug discovery and bio-research through the collection and integrated management of chemical compounds and related information.

Shared Use of Resources
KCB supports the shared use of nationally collected compound resources so that researchers can access and utilize valuable compounds for research purposes.

Research Collaboration
KCB promotes collaborative research among compound depositors, compound users, academia, industry, and research institutes.
National Designation
Korea Chemical Bank serves as a government-designated organization for the management and distribution of research outcomes in the field of chemical compounds.
Through this role, KCB supports the systematic collection, management, distribution, and shared use of compound-related research outcomes as part of Korea’s national research infrastructure.
