Compound Collection

A curated national collection of drug discovery compounds supporting bio-research, chemical biology, and compound-based drug discovery.

Collection Overview

KCB maintains a curated collection of organic compounds and single-component natural products that can be used as research tools for bio-research, functional studies of disease-related genes and proteins, and starting materials for drug candidate discovery.

As of 2024, KCB manages approximately 760,000 compounds as national research resources for compound-based drug discovery and life science research.

Compound Resources

760,000+

Compounds managed as part of KCB’s national compound resource collection.

Research Use

The collection supports bio-research, chemical biology, functional studies, screening, and early-stage drug discovery research.

Compound Types

The collection consists mainly of organic synthetic compounds and single-component natural products with research relevance.

Acquisition and Curation

Researcher Deposits

KCB receives compounds generated from national R&D projects as research outcomes, as well as voluntary deposits from researchers.

Original Synthesis Programs

To expand structural diversity, KCB has secured compounds through original synthesis projects selected from domestic synthetic chemistry experts.

Selected Vendor Compounds

KCB selectively acquires special scaffold compounds by considering drug-likeness, structural diversity, and cheminformatics-based evaluation.

Quality Control

KCB manages compound quality across three stages: compound intake, long-term storage, and compound release. The quality of compounds provided by KCB is carefully managed because it can directly affect users’ research results.

  • UPLC-MS-based molecular weight and purity verification
  • Review of supporting analytical data when needed
  • Annual quality re-validation of selected stored compounds
  • Additional analysis of hit compounds before follow-up experiments
